“I received a number of local scholarships that I’m tremendously grateful for. Without these scholarships I would not have the funds to go to college and achieve my goals. I really appreciate all of the scholarship donors who believed in me and awarded me a scholarship.”
About Caitlin L. Wilson
Glendale High School, Class of 2016
College: Umpqua Community College
Why I chose UCC: I chose UCC because it is close to home and in an area that is familiar to me.
Major: : I am interested in either psychology or the equine sciences and will probably double major.
Experiences or persons influencing your choice of major or future career: My experience with horses and having a family member with autism drew me to these two fields of study. I think both will help me in my goal to become a therapeutic horseback riding instructor. While I haven’t yet job shadowed anyone who works in the field, I am currently volunteering once a week at a therapeutic riding center. I’m learning a lot and getting more insight into what’s involved.
Classes taken in high school that made an impact: In high school, I took an interest in art, Introduction to agriculture and psychology.
High School activities, clubs, sports and leadership: Unfortunately, I did not participate in any school activities, clubs or sports because I was too shy at the time. Now that I am out of high school I’ve learned that I would like to have been involved with my school.
Planned college activities: At UCC, I plan to join the Bible Study Club and seek out leadership type opportunities on campus.
Scholarships I received: I received the Leroy and Marcie Dixon, Ian Angiolet Memorial, GEAR UP, Hanna Family Perpetual Foundation and College Dreams scholarships. I really appreciate all of the scholarship donors who believed in me and awarded me a scholarship.
