Grants Pass High School
Class of 2015

University: Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska (located about 35 miles from Omaha)
Major: Nursing
Scholarships Received from JCEF:

Why I chose Midland: It was a small school, had a good nursing program and I received a softball scholarship.

Experiences that have drawn me to this field: I became interested in this field after I had two arm surgeries and was surrounded by medical professionals. It’s a good fit for me as I love science, helping people, and problem solving. I also job shadowed a nurse practitioner and knew right away that this was a great fit for me.

High School classes & other experiences that set me on this path: In high school I was part of the student athletic training program and took both AP biology, anatomy and physiology. I completed multiple job shadows in various medical fields to narrow down my career options.

High School campus and leadership activities: I participated in high school and club softball while also being in National Honor Society. With these activities, I learned to interact with various types of people.

Planned College & Campus Activities: I plan to play collegiate softball and get involved in various intramural teams.

I received the Grants Pass Active Club Scholarship, the Class of 1956 Scholarship and the Teens on the Move Scholarship from Club Northwest. All of these scholarships have helped ease the financial stress on my family and me with trying to afford college.
